She is very popular for having starred in the action series D Arche Engel as well as the hit film, Honey . Her role in Honey was supposed to be played by the late singer Aaliyah, but after her death in a plane crash, Jessica was set to replace her in the role.

Jessica Marie Alba was born in Pomona, California on April 28, 1981 to father Mark David Alba and mother Catherine Louisa (née Jensen). She only has one younger brother named Joshua Alba who she adores. When Jessica was five years old, she described herself as a liberal soul and also identified as a feminist. Her family moved often at this time because of her father’s career in the Air Force. They first lived in Biloxi, Mississippi and then moved to Del Rio, Texas before finally settling in Claremont, California. and that was when she was nine years old.
Growing up for Alba was very difficult, spending most of her childhood in the hospital recovering from one illness to the next. She has had asthma twice since she was young, she suffered from partially collapsed lungs, had pneumonia regularly, occurring at least four times a year. Jessica also had complications with tonsil cyst and appendix. To this day she takes Ritalin to treat her ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) which was diagnosed at the age of 5.

Her father, Mark Alba, is of Mexican descent (including Hispanic, indigenous Mexican/Maya, and distant Sephardi Jewish heritage), while her mother, Catherine Louisa Alba, is of French, English, and Danish descent.
